Dutch offshore company, C-bed Floating Hotels, presents a new important assignment for the DP2 Walk-2-Work vessel, Wind Innovation.
In 2015, C-bed decided to buy and completely re-build a former seismic survey vessel into a floating four-star hotel and project basecamp. The result reflects C-bed’s experience in offshore wind with every detail of the ship supporting the industry’s demand for full range operational efficiency.
Project start in July
This summer, Wind Innovation will play an integral part in the installation and commissioning phase of a new 1.2 GW offshore wind farm off Grimsby in the western UK. Upon completion, the new wind farm will provide electricity for an impressive 1,000,000 British households.
The project kicks-off in July and C-bed expects approx. 50 guests to enjoy life on board throughout the project phases. Most of the personnel transfers from shore to the Wind Innovation are expected to take place by helicopter.
“The best ship out there”
“The demand for walk-to-work offshore vessels is increasing and Wind Innovation is simply the best ship out there. No other vessel matches her unique fit-for-purpose design and hotel service level. She holds a Comfort Class 3 certification and distinguishes herself from ordinary SOVs by offering 80 single cabins compared to the traditional 30-40 cabins,” says C-bed Sales Executive, Flemming Hjorth.
C-bed will be using Immingham as base ports for crew change and loading of fresh supplies.
The project becomes C-bed’s 22nd individual offshore wind farm project since 2008.
